On 06.06.2023, we were once again convinced that there is no limit to the cruelty of the Russians, as we were shocked by the news of the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. Residents of the Kherson region became hostages of an uncontrollable element, suffered great material losses, and some, unfortunately, were unable to escape. The scale of the destruction is enormous. In the first days after the explosion, local residents found the corpses of people and animals in the water mixed with various wastes. It is not known whether these people died because they could not escape the floodwaters or because they died in Russian torture chambers, of which there were many in the Kherson region.

On the occupied side, the situation is even more horrific.

This is a genocide of our people and a great sorrow for the country.

Our team was able to visit the flooded areas of Kherson with humanitarian aid, as well as those where there is no flooding, but there is a shortage of drinking water.

In addition to helping residents of the flooded areas, the team delivered drinking water, food, and other basic necessities to other areas. At the request of local churches, we provided them with water, clothing, antiseptics, pumps for pumping water, mattresses, and other supplies to help people. During the distribution of the aid, one woman shared a story about how her husband had a heart attack as a result of stress, but he could not be treated because there was no access to hospitals and pharmacies. She testified that only God helped them through it.

We were also impressed by the picture of children at the age of 10-12 taking on the responsibilities of adults and taking care of their families. Thus, two boys, during the evacuation, helped others to get to the shore, and from the list of all the help we provided, took what was necessary for their mother and little sister who stayed at home. There are many more stories like this, because the Russians not only took away the peace and quiet of Ukrainians’ lives, but also destroyed a carefree and happy childhood.
